What is 253 MA?
253 MA was developed over 30 years ago when there was a need in the industry for heat-resistant stainless steel with high strength and good oxidation resistance. 253 MA has exceptional strength and unrivaled heat resistance.
Despite its low nickel content, 253 MA alloy has an excellent combination of creep strength, high oxidation resistance, and erosion at extremely high temperatures. It gets its heat resistance from the tight control of micro-alloy.
In addition, its creep rupture strength from the combination of Nitrogen, Carbon, and Cerium, and its superior oxidation resistance (to 2000 degrees F) from the variety of Cerium and Silicon. All of this results in a high-quality, less expensive alloy than most heat-resistant alloys.
Features of 253 MA plates:
- Resistance to oxidation up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit
- High resistance to sulfidation
- Superior toughness at high temperatures
- High-temperature abrasion resistance is good
- Affordable price
This alloy is weldable using all welding processes. Our plates show tensile strength at high temperatures.
