What is the difference between stainless steel 304 and 304L?
Stainless steel is an alloy that resists corrosion. There is iron, chromium, and, in some cases, nickel and other metals. As a result, stainless steel can be found in a wide range of everyday products. Stainless steel alloy is widely used in a variety of industries.

There are various grades of stainless steel, such as 304, 304L, and so on. The most commonly used stainless steel grade is 304 stainless steel. It is a chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel with less carbon and slightly more chromium and nickel than AISI types 301 and 302. When annealed, grade 304 is highly malleable. It has good elevated temperature properties as well as low-temperature toughness. It is well suited for welding and other applications where the finished product must resist more severe forms of corrosion.
Stainless Steel 304L is a low-carbon austenitic chromium-nickel steel with corrosion resistance comparable to type 304 but superior to intergranular carbide precipitation during welding or stress relieving.
