904L grade shows low carbon high alloy austenitic stainless steel widely used in applications requiring corrosion properties. The 904L grade alloy contains high levels of chromium and nickel with additions of molybdenum element to provide added corrosion resistance. Also, adding the copper element to this grade gives corrosion resistance, especially for sulfuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids. This alloy makes better steel than other austenitic stainless steels due to the higher alloying of nickel and molybdenum elements.
